Green Focus is a two-day youth conference (February 18-19) that examines some of California’s most influential environmental laws. The program will introduce students to the growing green career sector. Youth will have a unique and valuable opportunity to enhance their knowledge of state government while engaging in the process of career exploration.
Green Focus is a great way to supplement what the students are already learning in the classroom and introduce the rapidly growing green career sector. Green Focus is a two pronged approach at introducing students to landmark environmental laws exclusive to California such as AB32 and CEQA. In the first day we will use a bi-partisan approach to teach students about these policies with various group activities, speakers and presentations. The second day will bridge the gap between policy and green jobs. The youth will hear from various individuals in the community on the types of careers available in the green career sector as well as participate in a job shadowing event with other students from around the Sacramento area.
Sacramento area teachers are encouraged to nominate students-simly have students complete the application attached here-Due November 4. All expenses, excluding transportation, are covered for this program. Student_Application_PDF.pdf
