Green Focus

This six-month program examines some of California’s most influential environmental laws while introducing students to the green career sector. Our goal is to familiarize Sacramento youth with the scope of California environmental policy and its influence on the green career field and the rest of the nation.  We emphasize California’s need for dedicated, skilled and knowledgeable individuals in this ever-growing career sector.  We incorporate activities which give the students college and careers building skills that they can use on their path to a successful future no matter what they choose to do after high school.

During Green Focus, youth will attend three conferences. Here they will:

  • Participate in several critical thinking activities which help familiarize them with environmental issues and get a hands-on look at state government
  • Hear from various speakers on green policy, careers and technology
  • Partake in a green job shadowing event
  • Visit legislators at the Capitol to get an inside look at various green policies and life as a public servant
  • Attend workshop acitivies which help youth gain important college and career building skills

With the rich pool of resources we have here in Sacramento, we strive to utilize individuals who can provide an in-depth look at these subjects.  Our hope is that Green Focus will effectively expose youth to the future of our environment through a unique lens they won’t be able to get anywhere else!
